VALLEY REPLACEMENT

UNDERSTANDING ROOF VALLEYS

Roof valleys are one of the most important drainage points on a pitched roof, where two roof slopes meet and channel rainwater away. They take the highest flow of water on the roof, especially during heavy rainfall, which means they are more exposed to wear and potential damage over time. When valleys begin to deteriorate, it can lead to leaks, damp patches and long-term water damage inside the property. This is why it is important to address any valley issues promptly, ensuring the roof remains watertight and performs as it should.

HOW THE WORK IS CARRIED OUT

OUR APPROACH TO VALLEY REPLACEMENT

At Rogers Roofing, we carry out professional valley replacements using high-quality materials and installation methods that meet BS 5534 roofing standards. Before any work begins, we carry out a full inspection to assess the condition of the existing valley and surrounding tiles or slates. In some cases, only minor repairs are needed, but when the lead, mortar or GRP valley tray has failed, a full replacement is the most reliable and long-lasting solution.

We use lead or GRP valley systems depending on the roof type. The existing valley and surrounding tiles or slates are carefully stripped and removed before installation begins. Whenever we carry out a valley replacement, we always install a new layer of high-quality breathable membrane from trusted brands such as Permavent, Marley or Proctor for extra protection. The battens are then checked for any signs of water damage or misalignment, and any that need replacing are renewed. The new valley is then installed and the area is re-tiled or re-slated and sealed to create a watertight, professional finish.
